Fair Friday- Anti Itch Salve

I have been taking small steps over the last two years to live a healthier life. One of those steps is getting rid of toxins.  Take a look at the average label on the beauty products you use. They contain lots of chemicals that have been shown to cause health issues. So I have been moving toward creating my own products from natural ingredients.  This recipe came from the daily news letter of Dr. Axe.
You can sign up for his daily letter at draxe.com
It contains lots of great information on supplements, herbs and healthy recipes.  I tried this one recently. I have very sensitive skin and I find this salve does a good job of calming down the irritation. It is very easy and quick to put together. I get all of the ingredients on Amazon.

1 tablespoon mango butter
1 tablespoon coconut oil
2 tablespoon beeswax
2 tablespoon calendula oil (dried petals soaked in olive oil for 3 weeks)
1 teaspoon aloe vera juice
1 tablespoon witch hazel
1 teaspoon neem oil
10 drops of following essential oils:

  • lemon
  • lavendar
  • tea tree
  • peppermint
  • sandlewood
  • juniper
  • rose geranium
  • eucalyptus
  • murrh
  • rose hip
  • chamomile

Put the mango butter, coconut oil, beeswax and calendula  oil in a small glass jar.  Put the jar into a pan with 2 inches of water. Heat the water just below boiling until the wax is melted. Stir to combine.
Remove from heat and cool slightly.
Add the aloe vera, witch hazel, neem oil and the essential oils. Pour into glass jars.
Store in a cool dark place.
